Broken twice with same problem within 8 months
I purchased this unti from Costco.com. When I first got this unit in February 2008, shortly afterwards the power wouldn't turn on and the DVD players' yellow light kept flashing. The Toshiba warranty service center took it to the repair shop and I had to wait for 1 month to get it back. They had to upgrade the firmware to make it work. The TV broke again the 2nd time in October 2008 with the same problem and the Toshiba warranty repair center took it to the shop on Nov. 6 (they only pick up/deliver the unit once a week on Thursdays) and they told me this time they have to replace a board and the parts won't be in until Nov. 24. They cannot repair it until they receive the parts. So I am still waiting here to get my TV back.

My boyfriend and I called Toshiba customer service to see what options were available to exchange this "defective" unit, since it had broken with the same issue twice, we felt that the unit itself was defective, and therefore should be replaced not just repaired. The Toshiba service center would not do that, nor add an additional 1 year warranty to the unit as requested. The only compromise they would do is to extend the warranty for the duration of the repairs while the set was out of our hands. What if the unit breaks again the 3rd time with the same issue beyond the warranty period? Toshiba customer service told us that they don't even offer extended warranty for purchase. So if the unit broke again beyond the warranty period then I am out of luck. We're very disappointed on the Toshiba warranty policy.

DVD player problems!!
The TV works ok, but the DVD player has frequent problems, freezing and keeping the disk inside...have NOT watched a full DVD w/out problems.

Built in DVD player failed after only 3 months!
The DVD player failed after 3 months of me owning this TV. My wife was watching Bourne Ulimatum when the DVD player just shut off and kept the DVD. Now the DVD is stuck in the TV and won't eject. When I called Toshiba for the warranty, they gave me a local company's phone number, which I called. The company said they had to order the part to fix it which takes 7-10 business days. 3 weeks later, I'm still stuck with a broken TV, and the repair company keeps telling me, "we still haven't received the part". One would think Toshiba could afford to just send me a new TV. I mean, come on, I've only owned this thing for 3 months! But Toshiba, instead, doesn't care that I'm without a TV right now.

This is the third Toshiba lcd in a year: one for the living room, one for the kitchen and this one for the screened-in porch. Like the other two, this one has a great picture, excellent sound and worked right out of the box. Good price, too.
