So I got the T.V in 1 week, came from Nevada to Washington so i thought it was pretty good shipping. I immeaditly installed the t.v in my room and when I turned on the t.v i immeaditly noticed that the sound quality wasn't very good. At this point im confused because I thought sharp is the top leader in T.v's? I turned up the volume to its highest (60) and still wasn't good quality? what the heck dude? Either there is something wrong with mine or no one yet has pointed this out? I read the worst reviews and they didn't mention anything about sound quality Oh and the controller does feel cheap, i was a bit bummed :( ... Anyways that was probably the only fault i thought the t.v had. The picture is OUTSTANDING! Super slim! light weight! Super price! (when i bought it) so yep that is my review. If anyone could help me out with the audio problem that would be wonderful! I really don't want to buy a surround system this shouldn't even be a problem becuase my previous t/v ( 27" Panasonic) had a way better sound system preeeeeetay saaaaad if you ask me.

Great Product for Price
This television picture is amazing. I had a 1080i rear projection TV before this one and the Sharp blows it out of the water. The picture is crisp and clear! Better yet, the bezel is very thin so that it fits in my TV cabinet which is less than 36" wide! The sound is not great, but with a little tweaking it sounds fine. I also have a Sony surround sound system for watching blu-ray movies. Great product and a great price!

Excellent! But a few things to keep in mind ...
I bought this 37" Sharp Aquos LED HDTV as a Christmas present for my wife. She loves it! It replaces an older bedroom 36" SONY 'CRT' tube TV that required the figurative bulldozer to ever move the thing while this Sharp LED and at 37" can easily be moved and weighs in at about 45 pounds. The picture quality is excellent! Bright too. Colors are the best I've seen.

Since many reviewers have already commented on the TV's merits, I'll simply mention some things that were not in those reviews but which the buyer should keep in mind. First, the delivery itself, where Amazon [at least in my case] chose 'Pilot' as the shipping carrier and while I have no complaints whatsoever about the delivery, the buyer should note that they will be required to sign for this item and therefore someone should be home to sign the delivery papers. So too, Pilot attempts to call you to set up a delivery date so make sure you have your actual phone number on file with Amazon [and not a fax machine number] because first they call to assure someone will be home on 'their' scheduled delivery date and 'then' and only then do they [Pilot] set the delivery date. In short, the item is not just dropped off -- a delivery date is made by the carrier and someone must be there to sign for it. Fortunately, when I bought the set in December from Amazon, the delivery was free. That was approximately saved right there! Although I had to pay state sales tax ever since June of 2008 when the State of New York essentially forced Amazon into the sales tax collection thing [via legal means]. As have some other states and my understanding is that this whole forcing of commercial entities who are 'not' located in the buyers state to collect state sales tax will be a matter for the courts to decide. In the meantime, NY [and some other states who have opted to go this route claiming that 'advertising' in a particular state is sufficient grounds to collect sales tax [!?] ] gets their sales tax! Shades of the internet tobacco sales issue with Native Americans and the various states wanting their cut of the pie, as it were.

Getting back to the TV and other than the excellent picture, I liked the idea that Sharp continued to have at least one RF input [you know, the older 75 Ohm screw-in cable also termed the "F Type connector"] so that until you get [** highly recommended] those HDMI cables or S-Video or 5 wire 'component' cables, there is still the RF input [labeled "ANT/CABLE"] which can be handy especially when the fancy and updated cables go in and, for whatever reason, you start to get zip for a picture with all those add-on gizmos [DVD's, VCR's, etc.] so that until you can figure out what goes where, the RF cable will at least provide you a picture until the HDMI cable(s) [or whatever updated video cables] begin to work for 'all' your TV video attachments.

One last comment and I'll gladly correct this if I'm in error, that 1080p high definition picture 'only' becomes available with an HDMI cable as I'm informed that if you use S-video or that 5 wire 'component' cable, the max you will get is 720p resolution. It's the HDMI cable [with the audio built in which is a plus] that provides the 1080p resolution. This too which bears repeating, remember that these newer sets have 'multiple' video sources so the old 'Channel 3' thing becomes irrelevant when you move to S-video, component or HDMI cables since you then use the remote control to essentially tell the TV where the video source is located via the remote control "INPUT" button press. How do I know that? Take a wild guess when S-video cable was the 'in' thing [before HDMI] and I'm sitting there with the TV set to 'channel 3' and I'm waiting for a picture and I get .. zip .. , a blank screen, but only because once I stopped using the older RF 75 Ohm screw-in cable and pulled it out [the satellite box to the back of the TV] in favor of the [then] updated S-video cable and, of course, a slot in the satellite box itself for S video, the 'channel 3' setting no longer applied as the trick was to use the remote and essentially direct the TV to the new [S-video] video source. Ditto using the 5 wire [on each end] 'component' cable or the latest HDMI cable. This new Sharp that I'm writing about has 'multiple' video input sources [including the one on the side of the set] and each video source [or added DVD machine, etc.] must be selected via the remote control "Input" button so that the TV can locate the input source signal!

ADDENDUM! Your other TV's -- if you're still using the older RF cable [the 75 Ohm screw-in "F-type connector"] and your older TV has a slot in the back for "S-video" and prior to HDMI slots making their apearance since 2007, 'definitely' go for the S-video cable over the older RF or RCA 'composite' stuff. When I switched over to S-video on my older SONY and HITACHI big screen TV's which do not have HDMI slots the picture quality improved tremendously over the older RF or RCA 'composite' stuff! The previous 'graney' picture was eliminated completely with an S-video cable and the [generally and for a few bucks more] audio cables [two of them -- left and right -- color coded red and white] 'attached' to the S-video cable itself. So too, I personally found no discernible difference, picture quality wise, between S-video and 'component' cable [5 wire, you know, that Y-Pr-Pb stuff + 2 more audio cables, total 5 wires] although I found the HDMI cable, now in vogue, to be the best of all as in the case of this new Sharp which [on the 37" model] has -two- HDMI cable slots. The write-up talks of '3' HDMI slots but that's perhaps for the even bigger Sharp models. This 37" Sharp has 'two' HDMI slots, not three. That slot on the 'side' on the TV, under the component plugs, is not a 3rd HDMI slot, it's a service terminal! Take a look!

Now, if I had only predicted in 2008 that the Blu-Ray system HD players would be the winner over the HD-DVD format players, I'd be thrilled!

HDTV picture OK, but purchased based on inaccurate description
I purchased this TV for an exercise area in the basement. I have some ceiling mounted amplified speakers over the treadmill that ran into the headphone jack of the old TV, and was looking for a TV with a headphone jack that would allow me to keep this configuration.

I compared the Sharp LC-37D64U against others in its class. I decided to pay a little more for the Sharp based on Amazon's description that it had DLNA and a headphone jack. With DNLA I could tap into programs and movies stored on my Mac. I discovered upon delivery that neither was available on this TV. I thought about returning it to Amazon immediately, but there is an audio out on the back of the TV that I can use for the external speakers and the reviews stated the picture quality was quite good. The lack of DLNA was very disappointing, as it was the feature that swung my decision to the Sharp.

To control the external speaker volume through the the television's remote requires a change in the audio setup menu. The PC speakers I'm using sound better than the speakers built into the Sharp. I'm not that impressed with the quality of the picture yet. In lower light, the display never achieves a decent black, so the picture looks a bit washed out. Fiddling with the brightness/contrast didn't improve the picture much. I'm sure I can get a better picture out of the Sharp once I spend more time on adjusting the controls. From the menu, there appears to be quite a number of settings I can adjust. Last, the display angle is unimpressive, but I mounted the TV on a ceiling mount that swivels, so this isn't really an issue for me.

Bottom line is that I'm keeping the TV, but I would have made a different choice if the description had been accurate.

Sharp Aquos is a great choice!
I essentially went with Sharp because of their known reputation of good customer service. I had to contact them on the first day (not because of the product) and the service was quick, efficient, and friendly! The TV is great, such a good deal for such a large TV!
