this tv has a great picture, is an attractive piece of decor, and an easy-to-understand instruction book. except i can't get my old vcr hooked up - audio works, video doesn't. my fault. the remote would be better if the words on it were bigger, other than that, it's laid out well.

Very Basic
The picture is ok but not great. The sound isn't great at all. Of course there isn't much to expect from such a little box but the TV even sounds bad considering that. My laptop sounds better. The worse thing is the DVD functionality. I haven't really payed attention to it before buying, so now I am blessed with frustration:
- Only plays DVDs. No VCD, SVCD or other video formats!
- NTSC ONLY!!!!
- Only plays region 0 and 1 DVDs and no hack available anywhere

As for audio cd playing I find it annoying that the drive is fairly loud and that the screen is always on. It's an ugly blue screen just displaing 'track 1', 'track 2' etc. - no CD text.
My recommendation: If space wise any possible - get a TV only and an external DVD player.

Fair, but not the quality I expected.
I needed a new T.V. for my kitchen counter & I thought this one might fit the bill, but, when it arrived (on time) & was set up, I felt that something was missing. I was not in love with the picture, which seemed greenish to me. It was just not an enjoyable experience, so I ordered a Toshiba HD 19" set it up in place of the Sylvania & I have been truly satisfied ever since (this was about 6 months ago). If fact, I was so pleased that I just had to write this comment to let others know how satisfied I was with the Toshiba. The Sylanvania is just sitting unused in my spare bedroom.

Just what we needed.
I purchased this for the specific purpose of using it during my wife's temporary stays in a nursing home. It's light and easy to transport. It has a great picture and fair reception with an inexpensive indoor antenna. The dvd player works well and has good sound. It's just what we needed.

Grandkids TV
Great TV for the price. Built-in DVD player is a real plus. I bought one for each grandkid and they love it. Picture quality isn't that of a SONY, but good enough for guest rooms and video games on a 15" TV in this price range.

AWESOME HDTV SAMSUNG 26
I love this TV. Used it for half a yr AWESOME. Use it as my monitor for my desktop. Play all my playstation 3 games on it, watch all my blu ray and dvd on it. Watch all my sports tv with in. Perfect for a small room, great color, great quality, GREAT PRICE. I enjoy every second i use this tv.

Just my Luck ?
I purchased this tv on Jan. 22, 2008 and had no problems at all until about Mar. 11, 2008. Just a few weeks over the time limit to send it back to Amazon and get a replacement. Then the high pitched sound started. Once the tv was on for an hour or two it would develope a high pitched whine coming from the back of the set and continued the whole time the set was on.
I contacted Samsung and they had me send it to NJ for repairs. Well, I got the set back from NJ today (after almost 3 weeks) and it doesn't even look like the same set. When I sent it in for repair I sent it in the original box with all original packing and it arrived today in a different box with different packing. My brand new tv (barely 3 months old) that left here without a mark or scratch on it, was covered in scratches, back and front.Further unpacking revealed a 1" diameter hole in the front left corner that was broken out of the set along with pieces of plasitc that just fell out of the packing. I was also completely missing the oval base plate that I originaly sent.
I contacted Samsung again and they said to return it once again to the repair shop in NJ to see what they had to say about it ? So much for Samsung's warranty and customer service, it's beginning to look like I'm out almost 0.00 for a beat up, broken, missing parts tv. It's really a shame too because before the noise started up and I had to send it in for repairs it was a nice tv and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it.
All I can say is "Good Luck" if you purchase this set and I hope that you don't encounter the noise and have to send it to NJ for repairs.

Samsung 26" LCD HD TV
Once it is properly installed, this TV is top-notch! Its color is superb, definition unbeatable, and it has full controls of all parameters. It was very complicated to set up, and I had a professional do that for 0 plus. Even he had to come back three times to get it straight and to make it work with my VCR and DVD units.

What a disappointment!
After much research I bought this TV through Amazon, and after 3 days it had a snowy picture. After spending a great deal of time confirming that the problem was in the set, not my cable set-up, I had to send it to a repair shop (at my cost!). While the Samsung customer service people were friendly and apologetic and the vendor (BuyDig) refunded the shipping, I have been without the TV for 10 days now and the parts are on backorder until who knows when?

This policy, whether its Amazon's or Samsung's, sucks. I pay almost 0 and get left hanging, waiting for a defective TV that will now always be suspect. DO NOT BUY A TV FROM AMAZON IN THIS WAY AGAIN! DEMAND THAT DEFECTIVE SETS GET IMMEDIATE REPLACEMENT, NOT A REPAIR NIGHTMARE!

LG 37LB5DF 37-inch 1080p LCD HDTV
The picture is good on this TV, but the remote is very user unfriendly....small buttons close together and all alike. It is in a bedroom and almost impossible to change channels in the dark. Also I don't like the way the channels are set up. After each channel there is a dash and a 0 or another number that makes no sense to me whatsoever. It is set up in four channel types: TV, DTV, CADTV, CATV....why I am not sure...it is just confusing to me. I guess that is why they price was reduced on this unit. I should have sent it back, but I found that too much problem. Had I read a review stating this information I would not have ordered the TV. I cannot recommend it.

Good stuff
I did a ton of research on LCD and other flat screen TVs prior to purchasing this, I really wanted a full HD TV on my 37" screen despite the fact that many places said that on TVs smaller than 45" the difference wasn't noticeable. I got what I wanted and so far I love it! Great picture and great sound also!

Not as good as I thought
The TV came as promised. Very quick actually. No issues with packing. Set-up was pretty easy. Getting the picture quality up to the same quality as my girlfriends Sharp Aquos has not been easy though.

I started by swapping out the HD cable box, and, then had the cable company come out to the house to check the signalling. I upgraded to HDMI cabling but while the LG has a very good picture, i don't feel it is as high quality as other reviewers had suggested.

The remote works well, easy to figure out.

Overal all nice, but not superior.

LG 37' 1080p
The LG 37 is one of a very few 37 inch LCD units that are full 1080p displays. For those of us who want the best HD picture we can get, this is a good choice. The picture is clear and crisp and the audio is typical of sets of this type, which means if you want great audio, add a sound system. I found the controls somewhat hard to decipher, but once I got the idea, fine adjustments to color and sound were easy. I had no problem finding hanging hardware. Trivial complaint is the large red off light that I can do without.

Excellent HDTV picture and very good SD Picture
The HDTV picture is sharp and the colors are crisp and clear. Flesh tones are excellent. Standard def picture is very good. DVD picture is very good. The viewing angle is good. Sound is very good. The controller and the on-screen menu are easy to use and follow. I highly recommend this t.v.

Best Buy In along time!
Hands down this is one of the best buy's I have made for enhancing my game and movie experience! I'm trying to think of something I don't like about this TV and nothing comes to mind!

Great for the Money
It's a great TV for the money. Excellent picture quality coupled with intuitive menus reinforce my decision to go with Sony. For 720P the picture is sharp and clear, slight blurring on fast moving objects, but that's common on LCD's, at least with today's technology. Shipping was fast and free, what's not to like.

Sony, The One and Only
This TV set is simply wonderful! Picture is sharp as well as definition.I also own a Samsung 40 inch set. My new Sony is absolutely superior in all possible aspects. After all, it's a SONY!!!It's a sure shot!

Great TV, Great Price!!
So far I have been very happy with this TV, I bought it to use as a bedroom TV.

Now, I have had and HD TV in my living room for a few years now (another Sony) and now that I have this one I see some of the changes made to the newer TVs and now I want to replace the living room TV because of these changes. Seems like there have been some very nice 'software' upgrades as far as the menu system and some of the features I wish my older TV had.

I didn't buy it from Amazon but I did get it for the same price. Very good price for a very good TV. Very impressive HD picture, and I have it hooked up to my computer and it makes a great monitor. If I wish something was different I would like change the source of the PIP window when using my computer, as it stands right now this can not be done I can only watch an over the air antenna while using my computer.

Over all great product for a great price, just shop around.

Greatest HDTV I have ever bought.
This TV is phenomenal, the picture is incredible, it looks great and it's not that heavy. I have my PS3, X-box 360 and Wii all connected to this tv and it's so simple to switch in between them. I also used it as a computer monitor and Oh MY GOD! Counterstrike on a 1920x1080 resolution is insane! Probably the best TV I have ever owned. I also suggest getting 5.1 speakers for this TV because the TV has a problem with bass. It tends to overpower the speakers so get what I got, Logitech 5.1 Z-5500 =Amazing. I highly recommend it and buy it from NEWEGG it's 850 bucks in Total, fast shipping and great service.

Recommended for Nongamers Too
We did not buy this Sharp Aquos because it is a gaming TV, but because we saw it next to TVs in the same price range at one of the electronics chains, and the Sharp picture blew the others away. Even though we knew we would save almost 0 buying the TV online, we were a little nervous about buying from TigerDirect through Amazon. We took the plunge, though, and the TV arrived in a matter of days in perfect condition. The set-up with our HD DVR was a little difficult, and calls to Time Warner weren't much help when the support person insisted the 480i showing on the DVR was the DVR model number. We finally went to Time Warner's Web site and found the information we needed to get the set up to maximum resolution. We have had the TV a couple of months now and are very happy with it. A word to the wise -- if your order with Amazon "suggests" you purchase a Bargaincell HDMI cable for an extra B000NKAYWG.98, pass on it. We ordered the cable, and the audio was nonfunctional.

Good TV
I found one dead pixel on this TV, but I guess if you don't want dead pixels then you have to test it in a shop and buy one in a shop instead of buying it online. I also found that it takes some for the grey-to-black, you can see ghosting effect. Also, consistent with the other reviews, it doesn't come with very good speakers, so better use some external speakers. I game a lot with my PS3 using this TV (the dead pixel still annoys me a lot, I guess when you get a Full HD you kinda demand perfection), and somehow it's harder to see the images when there's a lot of sunlight, requiring me to sit closer (and I have 25/20 vision). Overall, this is a good TV comparing price for price with other brands. With Sharp' new Kameyama state-of-the-art factory though, you'd think that they would have up-ed their quality a bit more.

Sharp Aquos LC32GP1U 32-Inch 1080p LCD Gaming HDTV
This a great tv and the picture quality for HD channels is excellent. I also play my PS3 games with my this tv and I have to say that there is unbelievable sharpness with PS3 games. Overall picture quality and sound are great and the game button on the remote is very convenient. It helps while switching between game and tv programs. Setup was very easy with no hassel at all.

sharp hdtv- stay away from Tiger Direct!
I had to return my tv- it was dead when it arrived. when i phoned sharp, they said it happens all the time with products from Tiger Direct-
STAY AWAY from TIGER DIRECT was their advise and mine!

Can't Go Wrong
With this sony TV you just can't go wrong. Excellent picture quality (remember that your picture quality depends on the source, poor source poor picture, good source good picture. Lots of features, just beautiful.

First Time HDTV Owner
I just purchased mine from Ultimate Electronics for [...]. I looked at this years model side-by-side with the XBR5 and could not tell a difference in picture quality (w/ BluRay video). I do not have satelite or cable so I get my HDTV signals over the air for free via 10 year old UHF Amplfied indoor antenna. I now get more digital channels than analog. The shows broadcast in 1080 are amazing (some are even in 16:9 aspect ratio). Traditional analog signal images are pretty fuzzy, so I purchased an outdoor HD antenna [...]that I still need to install to get all the over-the-air digital channels available. The remote even controls my 8 year old Sony DVD player. Beautiful TV, beautiful picture, beautiful warranty, beautiful price!

Sony lover
This TV it is so great, it looks wonderful with my dish network hd reciver even in the channels that are not hd. Also I am speachless of how the PS3 looks.
Before I bought it I read some reviews but the thing that make me get it It was the fact that Scott Wilkinson(editor of the ultimateAVmag.com) said that it one of the best in the market. I hear his intervention at the radio show "The Tech Guy" with Leo Laporte every week.

The quality is unbeatable. I feel like I'm looking through a clear window at what ever I'm watching. ESPN HD is awsome! Much better than I had expected!

Best lcd on the market.
Arrived on time and in excellent condition. Delivery guys even helped me put it on my tv stand. I did have to hook up all the cables myself, but that wasn't a problem for me. Best Buy was selling this for B000TAIC1U,000 more, plus tax. I got free shipping and didn't have to pay sales tax, so I saved about B000TAIC1U,275. I bought from Electronics Expo which is an authorized dealer, and Sony did say I would get the 18 month warranty. It has the best picture and colors I saw in lcd tvs, when I looked at them in all the local electronic stores in my area. I would highly recommend this tv and buying it from Electronics Expo. What a deal I got.

Beautiful TV and great price; currently no sound issues
I bought this TV to replace my old Sony tube TV which was defective and had a greenish screen. That TV was only a few years old, too, which doesn't say too much for Sony products. This TV, however, is so beautiful; it is FAR superior to the old tube TV I had. There is just no comparison. The colors are vibrant and the contrast is amazing, especially in HD. It is my first HD TV and I can definitely see why people love these TVs so much.

The sound is just okay. I do not have the sound distortion problem resulting from using the QAM tuner and not a cable box with Comcast with this TV. Hopefully, I will never get this problem since it is a major issue with the 32" Samsung TV we bought shortly after this one. You can see what I mean by reading my review on the LN32A330 model. Apparently, most of Samsung's tuners are defective in these TVs and do not work well with cable signals (mainly Comcast) unless there is a cable box. This results in distorted or "robotic" sound on HD channels at regular intervals.

I highly recommend this TV ONLY if you use a cable box. I personally wouldn't take a chance with it if you have Comcast or any other cable without a cable box. My 26" doesn't have the sound problem, but it could only be a matter of time before it pops up, which I have heard does happen.

Good picture from wide viewing angle
It was easy to hook up. The picture is great and there is no distortion even if viewed from a side angle - it can be watched from every chair in the room. Sound is pretty good. As someone who doesn't read instructions, it is easy to operate. The shiny black is very attractive, but is a dust magnet.

Samsung 26" LCD HDTV

Great TV overall
This is my first HDTV and I couldn't be happier with the picture, it truely is amazing. The reason I give it 4* is because the sound is terrible, you really do NEED to buy external speakers. It sounds like a radio, which is a huge turn off if you doing something like playing Guitar Hero or watching mtv, things of that nature. I disregarded the other reviewers saying the sound is bad, it really is noticable. Just a little thing on my wish list, I wish it had S-Video, Headphone plug ins, and PIP but the 2 HDMI inputs make up for it. I just listed all the cons about the TV which may make you think that it's a bad set, but it really has great picture quality. Xbox 360 games look great with the HDMI input, and HD programs, like football, look so much better than with a regular TV. Regualr cable channels do look like crap, as they do with most/all HDTV's. Just be weary that if you buy this set you will most likely also need to buy speakers and digital cable. I'd recommend this to anyone.

Misleading images - Bezel is thicker than it is in images.
All of the advertising images of this TV are misleading. The black frame/bezel on this TV is actually about an inch wider than it appears to be in the advertising images of the TV. To me, this is a disappointment. Pretty good TV. Sound is ok but could be better. Seems to be some resonant vibration/distortion at moderate levels. Contrast range doesn't seem to meet specs.

Great flat screen TV
Sony Bravia L-Series KDL-37L4000 37-Inch 720p LCD HDTV
For the price I paid I do not believe anyone can match this purchase. The sale price included shipping, delivery, unpacking and setup where I wanted it. Although it's not the Hi Def 1080p, I really don't notice the difference between 720 and 1080. Perhaps if I were to look really close, I might see some difference, but I am totally satisfied with the great picture this set provides. Also, I highly recommend using the HDMI cable with the TV. (This is not included, but can be purchased at a number of on-line sites at a very inexpensive price. Get two if you're going to use Blue Ray or a DVD player capable of HDMI.) I am not using a separate audio system, but the built-in speaker system is quite adequate. I'm really surprised at how easy it is to customize the desired settings for both picture and sound. To say I'm happy with my purchase is an understatement. Thank you Amazon.com!

Perfect TV for me
We looked a few brands of TV, Vizio, Samsung, and Sony. We found that Sony has the best picture quality, that is, more realistic color and undistorted details. Samsung seems a bit too bright for me. And the size
turned out to be perfect for my 12'x12' living room (I originally thought about 42' and 40' TV). we are happy with it.

Sony 37L4000 WOW
I had looked for a long time for an HD LCD TV. I was very reluctant to buy, as I wanted an excellent TV for a great price. We looked at many tv's at all the typical stores and finally decided on Sony, as we have always had good lcuk with Sony. Then the big question, what size and what resolution. We took measurements and decided 37" was just right for our room. Then the resolution. Had to be 1080p right, wrong. You don't have to have the highest resolution all the time. The 1080 signals come in great in on the 720. Remember it is still an improvement over the CRT that you are upgrading from. Now where to buy the tv. Checked all around, watched Amazon for several weeks, noticed the price dropping and kept watching. Finally got to my price point and I bought. Next week the price went up by 0. Amazon delivered, arrived perfect and they set it up. It is AWESOME! I am extremely happy with my decision. I would do this over again. Now for the TV in the family room.....

We have had this Sony Bravia 52XBR5 for 8 months and it is the best TV picture we have seen. It arrived in great condition, easy to hook up to the satellite receiver. It made viewing TV a pleasure just to see the detail.

It does take two people to move as one cannot lift it by using the bezel.

I actually bought the XBR4 version, which I didn't really see much difference between the XBR4 and the XBR5 except for 0. I did all my research and shopped around for months. I finally had my choices down between the XBR4 and the Samsung 8 series. The XBR4 won out, just by the fact that it doesn't have a shiny screen and doesn't have glare all that much. The picture is phenomenal, it's great for playing my XBox 360 in high-def and it's got more inputs than I'm gonna use cause I got everything running through my stereo. No complaints here except that's it's pretty heavy. Hanging it would be a 2 person job, I barely got it up on my entertainment center. Other than that, this is the best TV out there,in my opinion.

Simply the Best!
I am a semi-professional photographer and I'm very sensitive about image quality. This TV replaced an existing wide screen tube TV that was working fine, so I was able to take my time and fully research a replacement. To cut to the chase, this TV represents the current state of the art in image quality. Period. No compromises.

First, as to screen size. Make sure you take the time to explore the various web sites that discuss the proper screen size for your viewing location. You'll probably be surprised at how large a screen is recommended. I was initially looking at screens in the mid-40" range, but after doing the math it was clear that the 52" was the answer. And they were right, this 52" is perfect for my viewing room -- you get immersed in the film.

Second, image quality. Sony has always been at the leading edge, but I carefully evaluated the competition. Samsung came close, and the Samsung TV was a bit cheaper, but the Sony had deeper blacks and more saturated colors; not by a lot, but it was noticeable. Now here's the important part. A lot of the TV's look great when displaying a Hi-Def picture, and that's what they have connected in the stores, but the proof of the pudding is how the sets present non-HD images. The Sony XBR wins this one hands down. It's not even close. Don't make the mistake of not evaluating the non-HD capabilities. You might be very disappointed once you get the set home.

My only complaint about this TV is that it does not have true picture-in-picture (PIP) because it only has one tuner. So the ability to split the screen and watch two channels at once isn't available. While I'd like to have that capability, it's a fair trade off for the spectacular image quality.

In summary, this TV simply has the best image quality available today. Connect it to any HD source, particularly Blu-Ray, and it will take your breath away. It's a bit more expensive than the competition, but saving a few hundred dollars would be a false economy. You're going to own this TV for years and it will only cost you a few cents more a day to own the best -- it is definitely worth the cost of admission.

A Quantum Leap!!!!!
After many months of careful product research and price comparisons I finally opted to go HD. Truthfully, I had second thoughts about getting rid of "ole faithful"-a 1999 36" Toshiba, which has not required one bit of maintenance nor experienced any downtime whatsoever since I've owned it. Nevertheless, the time came to jump ship from SD to HD, especially since I subscribe to most of the sports packages DirecTv has to offer.I chose correctly. The Sony 52" Bravia is a magnificant package-somewhat more pricey than their competitors-but certainly worth it. Outstanding picture quality and a very easy remote to navigate. Instead of mounting on the wall I chose instead to place "the monster" on a solid cherry finish console TV/components table manufactured by Hooker Co.It warmed the family room immeasurably and looks like it truly belongs. DirecTv quickly and accurately changed out the dish and receiver, and Firedog completed the install with my Sony surround system and combination VCR/DVD player.Trust me when I say you won't go wrong with the 52" Sony Bravia purchase.

Very Bad Purchase!
I did a lot of research before picking out this TV. The reviews here are great and the picture was incredible when I went to stores to check out all of the TV's. Everything looked good, even great, so I bought it in Aug. 2007. For one year I loved this TV, but in the 13th month of it's life, it started acting up. Sometimes when we turn it on, there was sound, but no picture. We called Samsung and they extended the warranty a month. It went to the repair shop on Sept. 14th. That repair shop had it two times, before they gave it back and said, they couldn't fix it. So Samsung had another repair shop take it. They now have it for the second time as well, with no fix. Meanwhile it has been over two months, and it is still in the shop. We are now trying to get Samsung to replace it, but things are not going well.It looks as if there is no fix for this problem, as I have learned it is pretty common and Samsung knows it. And now after researching Samsung problems and customer service, it looks like we will learn a ,000 lesson.
All I can say is go to Youtube and search Samsung problems and Complaints.com and put in Samsung TV. I would rather pay more to deal with a company that stands behind their products. They will never get another dime of my hard earned money!

Great Preformance
It has been a year since my purchase and this TV has been great. I would buy it again.

Great TV - DO NOT UPGRADE FIRMWARE!!!
I have owned this TV for almost a year and have greatly enjoyed it. I highly recommend it for a well-lit room. It's matte finish doesn't show reflections. In fact, I've recommended it to several friends and relatives who have also purchased it.

Today (Saturday), I updated the firmware, downloaded from Samsung site, to fix an issue with DVDs not showing at the right aspect ratio. I also have a Samsung BD-P1400 Blu-Ray player and routinely update the firmware on it.

After updating the TV firmware, the display was completely messed up, showing a rainbow effect and large pixelated images. I called Samsung Customer Support. The short story is that they told me that I would have to have a technician come to the house to fix the TV. There was no way to re-install the old version of the firmware. To add insult to injury, they told me that I had inflicted damage on my TV by installing the optional update from their web site and that I would have to call them back on Monday to find out whether they were going to cover the repair.

So now my Samsung TV is a useless brick and it will be several days before I have the privilege to pay to fix it.

I followed the band wagon on this on cause pretty much everyone I know has this TV. Did not dissapoint.

Beware of Quality Issues - Don't Ignore Rebooting TV
I bought this set almost a year ago. It's my first HD set so I was really impressed by the picture quality. I love the swivel stand which makes it handy for reconnecting cables or moving around the room. My issue is with the general quality of this Samsung set. A couple of months after delivery, it started turning off then on by itself (no timer or accidental knocks). This happened intermittently with increasing frequency until it was a few times within the same week. Though not a big inconvenience at first, I ended up calling Samsung Support. It was fortunate that I did because the trouble quickly escalated and the video started shutting off on its own. In the process, the power supply and main boards were replaced twice. Then it was the inverter box. Finally the panel died and had to be replaced. Can I assume it's a new set now?? All these issues on a brand new Samsung less than 1 yr old! I bought this TV to replace my old Sony which lasted almost 20 yrs. So now with warranty running out, I'm nervously wondering how long before the next issue creeps up.. 2 stars because I do like the picture quality and I'm HOPING this is not a common experience with Samsung.
